Rethinking our policy toward Afghanistan requires vigorous public debate and Congressional oversight. Every major war or military action since World War II has come under the microscope of Congressional oversight hearings

I lost 3 people dear to me, 9/11. To be honest? My first reaction was to want nothing less than *blood*.
But War settles *nothing*. The Russians tried a military solution, finally running w/ their tanks tween their legs.
When will we learn from history?
President Obama began his service career as a grassroots organizer. He *knows* (but forgets?) REAL, lasting change ONLY comes from within.
We'd do better to withdraw ALL our troops--at *now*--and send in a proportionate number of (*our* mostly UNEMPLOYED) "activists" to empower the Afghan people, teach them the *skills* needed so they can stand UP to the Taliban and take their OWN nation back, once and for all...
I repeat: War accomplishes NOTHING -- but vendettas!
("And Jesus wept...")

As a social liberal democrat and a student of American history this is not new in the way our government operates. We have never been a true Democracy, our choices of leaders has always been from a pool of plutocrats. We have been governed by the rich and powerful and it is their interests that we live and die for. This Nation has always been a white ethnocentric society which after the second world war went global. Obama has been a disappointment, because he is protecting the fascist interest of the corporatocracy, continuing the wars, protecting war criminals, and doing very little for the people who elected him.
