Join the Facebook Vigil at the White House to End the War in Afghanistan
Posted by Derrick Crowe on October 5th, 2009

We’ll mark the 8th anniversary of the war in Afghanistan this week. Peace Action West (fast becoming one of my favorite anti-war groups) put together a great online resource to help Americans speak out on Facebook and show support for ending the war. Their page makes it as easy as two clicks to send this message to the White House:

This week’s anniversary marks 8 years of war in Afghanistan, and I’m remembering those who have died. Bullets don’t win hearts and minds. We need a better plan for Afghanistan, end the war.

I’ve done it. Have you?

While you're at it Mr. President, say thank-you to Mr. Harper and tell him he can bring the Canadian combat troops home. Ditto to any Canadian police who are training for 'anti-insurgency/anti-terrorist' operations.

    They've done enough good.

The Taliban and Alqueda are not one in the same. Can't we carefully think about our trillion dollar debt in relation to national security? We are in the way of their civil war. Sadaam is dead... Intelligence sources didn't act on much provided to them prior to the 9-11 attack because the federal organizations are too fragmented to act decisively and quickly. I hope we study this before we put another 100,000 young men and women on the road to oblivion.

"There is no way to Peace, Peace is the way!..... Mr President, Please consult with Gred Mortinson, author of Three Cups of Tea and the Pennies for Peace campaign, which really does fight violence in Afghanistan, with education not guns!

Yes, Greg Mortenson has dedicated his life (in memory of his sister) to the people of the high regions of Afghanistan. At great risk to his own life, he bounces from Montana to Afghanistan to build schools for girls as well as boys. These schools are run by the local people. The better educated the citizens, the better choices they make.

I lived in Iraq and Kuwait as a child when my father helped develop and train people in the drilling operations of Wafra and the oil rigs near Basra. This was in the 1960s. We were cautious and respectful to everyone we met, although isolated by the company compound. The people in our world were kind and fun. I shudder to wonder what has happened to these people. Americans can be safe on our own soil. I'll not be able to feel safe abroad. The trillion dollar debt since 9-11 and "roll of thunder" was an unwelcomed response. Our health care, education, fire, police, homeless deserve more.

Mr President, you cannot change hearts by destroying bodies. This war cannot ever be 'won'. End this war now.

The Talaban offered to turn in AlQueda 8 years ago after 911 ...Why are we there now....Support a united Pashtoon homeland and the war in Afghanistan would end tomorrow.
