Two brothers and former prisoners at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan give their testimony about the harsh abuse they witnessed while being captured. Their tale is an example of just how difficult and complex the situation in Afghanistan is.
Why end the war? It has been an economic boom for some in country locals. It has been an economic boom for the war industry at home. Sure some people have died, but the war industry eats omelets, and to make an omelet you have to ...
Its too bad that the king no longer leads the troops into battle. In fact we have not only "evolved" out of that practice we have eliminated the draft where the kids of rich parents had to get shot too. We have "evolved" into an "all volunteer army" where if you are poor and like to eat and maybe want an education the military was a good opportunity.
Unfortunately we succumbed to the natural consequences of our leaders' "War on..." philosophy. You remember war on poverty, drugs, etc. With the "War on..." exemplifying a politicians most serious efforts at solving a problem its no wonder diplomacy went from need to war without talk or considering other options, especially when you have an all volunteer military.
Of course "All Voluntary" means that economic conditions, high education costs, low wages, the decline of the real wage and other factors are not considered when making a voluntary decision.
Want to stop war. Re-institute the draft. Rich folks don't like body bags. Of course neither do poor folks, but there are more kinds of collateral damage than killing the other guys civilians.
Boondock_Saint
I guess these two guys want everything to stay the same. We need to withdraw ALL of our troops and let the locals deal with it.

You can't change the hearts and minds of people with a gun or bomb, not even a remote controlled bomb.
All you can do is increase the hatred. Humanitarian aid will change minds. Watch Haiti.

Only in a Fools Paradise do your words ring true. Truth and Wisdom is knowing, "That Life is not about what you EARN! but the quality of what you LEARN!" and I don't mean a college education. As that may be good while on earth, but won't impress God one bit combined with an evil heart.
Which one is true? "He who dies with the most toys, Wins!" Or? "He who dies with the most toys.................Can't take it with him" Sure, it may get you a nice custom coffin high up on the hill, but your body will still decay and rot like the rest of us. Question is, are you a puppet without a soul or spirit, strung along by Satans will to have a self serving attitude, or will you come to your senses and know that the spirit inside you is suffering greatly? Don't feel the pain? It's what psychologists refer to as stuffing it, or denying your true self. God calls it a Reprobate Mind (lacking conscience).
No amount of POWER or RICHES can buy you an eternal life in Heaven, but it can buy you an Eternal Life In Hell. Why gamble your life over living the temporary life of a thief and a liar (stepping on others to get ahead) only to pay it all back in endless torment. If you do not know God, It is only because you lack any "common sense" when the evidence is all around you. Your mind is muddied and fouled by your incestuous need of having a false sense of security found in the value man has placed in temporary riches. Meaning, You have no God, therefore it is much easier to pretend the Goodness of God does not exist. Itching Ears, hearing only what you want to hear. Enjoy it while you can, because when your life on earth is over, that too will not exist. Jesus may have died in vain to those who refuse to acknowledge God, but to those of us who believe he brought the WORD of God (Gospel), have learned, that the true riches and power come from LOVE. As Love conquers all things, and within it, you will find the truth of who you were created to be, and not what the world and it's little trinkets of paper and colored stones have made you to be.
And if your definition of power is merely made up of Paper and the very precious elements God has created, and/or using others slaving for you to exalt yourself in greed, and not of a sound mind and spirit, then you have been fooled. If you do not possess the power to know where you go when you die, then I'd have to say your power is useless, and no better than a st. whore who has to have everything she see's. Personally speaking, I don't need expensive man made things to prove myself, nor wealth to attract companions (it's all very temporary). Having been blessed with a loving family, and the strength of heart to allow myself to be used by God is more power than I'll ever need or want, as God provides all things to those who ask in faith. And to tell you the truth, My cup in heaven runneth over, enough to dribble on down and satisfy those things in which I need.
As it is written, "Trust in God, and he'll give you the Desires of Your Heart" - Now that's power! and I don't have to rely on fraudulent greedy Wall Street, never knowing if I'm going to lose it all and all the worry that goes with it.
As it is written, "And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first." and that only includes those who serve God, and not those who serve themselves...........and that my friend, you can take that to the Bank!

Now that 35,000 more troops will be deployed at a cost of $35,000,000,000 per year ,,, with no definite mission stated other than to reduce the Taliban assets and protect the American people (yea right!) ,,, with no Way to fiscally pay for it in a time of economic depression ,,, with scant political will of the American taxpayer ,,, what exactly are we trying to accomplish, much less fighting for? What are the benchmarks of progress if not victory?
Perhaps we could negotiate the rights of Afghan women to enjoy habeus corpus, much less education, sexual, marital and reproductive freedom, access to the workplace and to a poise of economic status and self-determinism, etc. Can we negotiate the terms of an enlightened society if these men are truly willing to talk peace?
What if thirty-five thousand million dollars were spent on aid and education and infrastructure and agriculture and hospitals ... etc. Then would we have the right to occupy a foreign country and impose our cultural directives? What ultimate good can come from war if we cannot negotiate the terms of an enlightened and lasting peace?
When we're damned if we do and damned if we don't,,, perhaps it's best to err on the side of non-doing ... Except that it's too late now to be blameless and to simply walk away ...
What is the best for the most in a social abyss that has become a military quagmire? --- an oil pipeline?

ace cool is right charley wilson had a great concept....
we dont have any afghan soldier why???? becouse no one is paying them look at an american soldier, a US soldier have 1 million dollar expance per year and an afghan soldier have only 100 or maximam 200 $ per month so wat should they do by 200 $ he cant put his life in danger for only 200$ but instead of sending 34000 us soldier just increase the afghan soldier salary then see there would be thousands or i can say they would be lakhs of afghan ready for getting soldier and as we know afghan soldeir dont need training wat they want is money to cover their family, by doing this job every unemploy boys are getting in army, and they can defend their country.

It's good to know I am not alone. If we only search our hearts and remember how we value our own family and friends, with love, dignity, honor and respect, it shouldn't be hard to show the "SAME" value to those in foreign lands.
I remember when I was only 4 yrs old, I went to Disneyland and remember "It's A Small World" most vividly. I also remember my thoughts as well, which were, how interesting and happy I was to see all the different cultures and all the audio-animatronic figures from different countries with happy songs and smiles on their faces. Now to see those very same cultures being destroyed and how America can just stand by and accept the "HORROR" inflicted upon innocent men, women and children thinking we are wiping out "Terrorism" is complete insanity!
Former U.S. State Representative Charley Wilson had the best concept, and it worked! Supply the villages with weapons and train them to defend themselves against the Taliban. Then we'd be hero's instead of being called "terrorists" ourselves. He was only one man, without much power, but his passion for the Afghanistan people was great! WHERE IS HE NOW! and why haven't others stood up in congress to stop this bloodshed?
No man or woman should "EVER" be imprisoned without "EVIDENCE" that they have committed a crime! Or worse! To torture or belittle another human being for any reason! For those responsible, know that justice will be done, for they know not that GOD will judge them for their heinous acts.
"The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me." Mathew 25:40

I agree the ppl should not have to endure this type of treatment but if the same type of individuals are being sent to Afghanistan, how do you think it will stop? The power hungry will always be that way, the innocent will always suffer on this earth. WAGES OF SIN??!!! DUH??? It hurts my heart to see how this county treats it's own ppl, do you really believe they will treat others any different?? WHAT A JOKE!!!!

Seems your getting overly irrational on the subject. I am very aware of what goes on in my own backyard. But then again, this subject matter is on the video presented, not a video of what goes on in America. However, It should be obvious that I do not like any form of corruption for "ANYONE". Those people suffering in Afghanistan are no less human than the people here in the U.S. - When I hear and see the mistreatment, maiming, death and destruction caused by our "OWN" U.S. Government upon any innocent man, woman or child, regardless of what country, It is without question, and act of Evil and an abomination toward mankind. We Are All Human Beings created by God, and should be treated as such. But to play GOD, in recklessly deciding judgment without due process (facts/proof/evidence) over another and then administering torturous punishment, is a crime in itself. Surely those responsible for any act of cruelty and those who refuse to accept the will of God in showing fair treatment of another, will one day enter the gates of Hell for eternity (ignorance is bliss for them). For those who think Hell is anything less than your worst nightmares, you have itching ears, hearing only what you want to hear. As in life, You know there is an opposite to everything, and as Glorious as Heaven is suppose to be for those who follow the truth, There is also a place for the evil minded. As the saying goes, "they have made their beds, now they must lie in it" - Eternity is Forever! Unrelenting Pain and Suffering far above anything you could ever imagine in our present form. Why take a chance that it doesn't exist? Wouldn't Satan lead you to believe he doesn't exist? Or Hell for that matter? People can continue to believe in lies, but Love knows only the truth. Don't waste your lives bickering, biting, arguing, fighting as it is nothing but mans foolishness and nothing ever good comes from it. As Money and the "Temporary" power that comes from it will not last, but the promises of God will. God is not responsible for what the evil that continues to exist in mankind, But He is the judge! and no one person is exempt. They will surely reap what they sow!
All we can do now is to speak out and let those in charge know, We The People have a voice, and do not condone the mistreatment of any human being.
The Geneva Convention must be upheld to the strictest measures, where those who are found guilty of breaking it, Must also be punished as any other criminal that breaks the law.
Trust me when I say, Their Day Will Come! and they won't see it coming! They are in far more severe danger than anything they can do to man on earth. As life teaches us, "What Goes Around, Comes Around", "You Make Your Own Luck", "KARMA", so better to Pray for them, for they know not what they do!

this is one of the examples there are thousands of afghans that they are lost by american troops, and thousands of afghan civilian people died by the bombing of us troops, so simply the us troops are not fighting against fucking talibans they are fighting against civilians if they really want to fight against taliban so its better to send troops in pakistan.... i dont know where the hell taliban is hided in afghanistan dat america could not even find them.. the Isaf clear afghanistan in only 7 days, so how it is posible dat taliban is hided in afghanistan..
Excellent video because it tells it like it is. I believe President Obama is making a huge error if he increases troop numbers in Afghanistan next Tuesday. He should realize that the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are wrong, not in the interest of the people living in those countries and certainly not in the interest of the American people. We need to return our soldiers to their families and allow the Afghan and Iragi people to decide their own destinies.

Americans did not want to leave Vietnam, they were there for very many years. I always asked me WHY? For what?
Later on, I was in the U.S. and met a billionaire man, ex-CIA that made fortune in that war time in Vietnam. His closest friends told me in confidence that his fortune was made with the drug cartel on the north of Vietnam. The CIA controlled the north and all the drugs made there had to pay them to get off. CIA was protecting and regulating the drugs in Vietnam.
Probably is happening something similar now in Afghanistan. They also grow pops... and many high rank Americans are becoming billionaires with that occupation. They care nothing about afghan people!
Some kind of Americans are eager for money not for principles!
I believe OBAMA had very good intentions to finish all the wars when he got the office, he is a very good man! But now he sees that he cannot be too quick, otherwise he looses the seat, if he stays in the office he can help slowly, little by little, he will certainly accomplish his promises. He is a humanitarian and peace worker. The U.S. has now a good, intelligent great man in power! Let's help him to make things be better.

The bad guys do need to be punished, badly, so they are either eliminated or dissuaded. Let's face it: they behead people, abuse women, their system of justice is monstrous, and they run flagrantly afoul of their own holy book every day. How more hypocritical and grotesque can they be? Nonetheless, the U.S. needs to practice far more diplomacy, compassion, forbearance, patience, and prudence. The Taliban and al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan are just some of the consequences of U.S. meddling in the region's affairs since the 1950s and the development of the Mideast and south Asia oil industry -- the assassination of Iran's Mosadegh, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and the U.S. equipping the mujahadeen--who later mutated into the Taliban and Al Qaeda--as anti-Soviet guerrilla fighters, then the Iran-Iraq war (the U.S. of course supplying Saddam, including some of those pesky gas WMDs the conveniently amnesiac Neocons were so incensed about), then the invasion of Iraq and now this unresolvable mess in Afghanistan. This is a fire the U.S. cannot put out with weapons, only with patience, openness and a *lot* of infrastructure money. Every time the U.S. kills a bad guy, there is another ready to take his place, so the shooting war will never end. We must start by recognizing that U.S. foreign policy decisions shares some of the blame for giving Muslim extremists a party to hate and hurt. Measuring our own culpability may enable better policies going forward. Without them, expect U.S. personnel to be dying in Afghanistan -- and elsewhere nearby -- for many years to come.

first, i want to thank robert greenwald for his hard work and energy as a true american for making aware of all these atrocities that are taking place. as an afghan american, i want to let everyone know that this war will be our down fall. I hope to God that the day does not come that we stand in lines for food or toilete papers. this is just what happened to russians. I will tell all of you this, there is no country or power on earth that will win in afghanistan, i guarantee it with my life. just look at their history from the greeks to english to the rest of them. our government is underestimating the afghans just like the british and russians and the rest did. the only place in the history of jangiz khan and the mongols that he recieved the most blow where he lost his son, was in afghanistan. we will lose like we are already. people are joining taliban due to our killing of innocent people and killing their families. people are hating our troops and us as americans because our troops are looting, raping, and torturing innocent people. for Gods sake people wake up or we will be in hell in this life and if you believe in after life as well

What happened to Pride? What do we have to be proud of as an American? We must now exit Afghanistan. It is not our war. We need to take care of our own country and get rid of the terrorist in our country. I believe we call them gangs, drug lords and even illegal aliens. What if this was happening on our soil,in the name of peace? How would you feel about those that are "helping us"? Maybe if we came home terrorist would have no cause to fight. We have people dying daily from hunger, illness and many other forms of abuse due to lack of. But we send BILLIONS of dollars to support killing those in other lands. What makes us any different than them. I do support our troops who are there and for many and sadly ,learn to late they have as well been lied to. God BLess them and bring them home safely to their families.
GOD BLESS THE EARTH. Bring our men and women home now. Stop spending our money on killing and start spending it on saving.

I doubt that Obama reads this blog. It is not reason or compassion that runs this country. What part of the United States is Afghanistan in? What part of the United States is Iraq in? The United States has no business in either of those places! How has the voting public been convinced that we do? Oh, they haven't? Then our government is NOT of the people, by the people, and for the people. I believe our constitution has provisions for when it is blatantly apparent that that is the case. What is not plain to me is how to initiate that process.
Obama has to stop being pig-headed and admit he has to change his mind.
None of the 9/11 terrorists were from Afghanistan,
It would be great to deprive the Taliban of a place to train. However if the Taliban can't train people in Afghanistan, they will train elsewhere. You can't police the world.
We are killing and injuring Afghan civilians who just want to farm and live a normal life. It should hurt Americans to see pictures of woman and children who are collateral victims of bombings.
We are killing three US troops a day and injuring far more. Six parents get word each day…..This is a cost that is very depressing. The sorrow caused can not even be imagined by the American citizen.
The Afghan war is a Waste of Money.
We Can't Win.
The Afghan war costs $164,300,000 per day. Think of what we could do with our economy with that money. We could pay for universal health care
The war is counter productive. Afghans and the world are hating us more.
It is bad PR in World. We look like brutal bullies in the TV news.
The Afghan war is as wrong as Viet Nam for many of the same reasons.
We are destroying the country to free it.
Afghanistan is the gravestone of empires.

In Iraq alone: As of September 20, 09' there were "4,345" U.S. Armed troops DEAD. 31,102 wounded in action.
136 journalists and 51 media support workers, and countless aid workers killed. Contractors: at least 1,315 Deaths.
Iraqi's who died: 92,489 – 100,971 violent civilian deaths as a result of the conflict. 11,520 Iraqi military and police have been killed
U.S. and Civilian Casualties in Afghanistan....? and counting!
Compared to the loss of the 9/11 Twin Towers/World Trade Center and it's Casualties: 2,752 Deaths.
Would any U.S. citizen want their homes to be ransacked and looted, have your family members be imprisoned without being charged or represented, tortured and humiliated etc, etc,. Or worse! To have your homes bombed and/or experience innocent family members, husbands, wives and children maimed or killed? Of course not! But to think we are better as Americans, when God created all men equal is complete and utter barbaric ignorance.
Peace Talks! What A concept! was this not an option? Or are we truly that uneducated or self serving that we can't find some form of common ground? Now add the fact, we cannot afford to continue supporting these wars with American Tax Paying dollars (with money we don't have! now add interest to borrowed funds) and approximately half our country still thinks we need to be there. Best way to defeat a country is to wipe out it's financial resources...and it's happening!
Isn't it amazing that here in the 21st Century, we still have not figured out how to bring peace amongst each other, and that doesn't exclude Americans and it's own crime rate and the continued Billions in fraud within our own "DIPLOMATIC/POLITICALLY WALL STREET CORPORATE AMERICA"
IN GOD WE TRUST? WE THE PEOPLE? has changed to "IN MONEY WE TRUST and WE THE CORPORATE MONEY MONGERS who bribe our politicians to do their bidding.

I hear you kathiechandler, With all the mindless hate, arrogance, anger, racism, bigotry, corruption, greed, self centeredness, ungodliness, and ignorance in our own country (tell me about it), it is unlikely that we will ever see "UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL" (A house divided against itself cannot stand" Matthew 12:25). Although a great concept and regarded as pure wisdom handed down by the Creator himself, it is also said, "Many Are Called, But Few Chosen" on entering the house of God. I mean why half step in thinking we will ever experience America for what it once was, only to find out down the line, the American people only gather together when their lives are in danger. By then, it may be too late! Isn't it more important to know we can do something about it now? Where we can happily/peaceably eat, sleep and have certain moderate creature comforts without blood on our hands? I have a conscience, therefore, to step on or hurt others that I might have, is evil in itself.
If the people in our country cannot live up to it's own motto "IN GOD WE TRUST", and live by the word of God (man does not live by bread alone), they are already dead (walking dead, unaware), and it's a very short time when our lives here on earth are over and time to face the judgment of God.
God is not the author of confusion, and therein lies the secret to a better way of life. In prayer, If you ask for wisdom, you will receive it! In other words, there is a perfect honest answer for "ALL" things, if only you look in the right direction!
"Draw Near to Me, and I draw near to you" James 4:8, otherwise, leaving God out of the picture is pretty much like saying, Your house will surely fall! It's only a matter of time at the present rate we are heading. Obama may stave off the wolves for awhile, but don't be fooled, as we all know, the wolves are rich and powerful enough to work in hiding, devising new and better ways to corrupt America once again.
Here is wisdom: EVIL BEGETS EVIL! If the blind lead the blind, they will both fall into the pit. Follow what you know to be right! and God will be with you!
CLUE: What is the true meaning of Religion? As it is written: James 1:27 "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
Meaning!....Helping those less fortunate than yourselves! Especially those who cannot help themselves! For it is also written: Matthew 25:40 "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
Are we fighting for the preservation of our belief in GOD by destroying the lives of others in their beliefs?..or are we fighting for our own way of life by invading someone else's way of life, and all because there are "Seemingly" smarter and wiser people than you that do your bidding and your willing to sacrifice your life for it?
UNITED WE STAND! DIVIDED WE SHALL FALL! But remember! The only ones who will physically and spiritually fall are those who follow the mortal masses, forsaken God's will and cling to their own sense of understanding (where the vanity of ego, greed, gluttony, perverseness, dishonesty etc, are a way of life and deathly afraid to lose it, nor will stop at nothing to achieve it or secure it) . For those who put their trust in God and keep themselves committed toward love and peace (Love your neighbor as yourself), all the wealth and treasures combined here on earth will not come close to the gifts of glory God has waiting for you. Pray for those who suffer, spread the word that the Peoples voice dictates "BRING OUR SOLDIERS BACK HOME"
"LIFE is not about what you Earn that is so important, it's the value in what you Learn!"

Thank you for you time and truth. I agree but I also believe we still have a chance to change things but our time as a human race is running out and tomorrow is not a option today we as a people must change. Mark 11:24 ACT AS IF YE HAVE RECIEVED AND YE SHALL RECIEVE TEN FOLD"I shall walk with love, compassion, truth and lack of judgement. ALL mankind must return to ONENESS. Keep spreading the message. Remember Jesus (or whoever anyone believes in spiritually) didnt have cell phone or computers they had to walk the walk, speak of love with every breath. I am blessed that what I do daily for my bread keeps me in that space. I struggle with the horror with the videos for I know there are those who dont have their hearts torn out by seeing a child dying or suffering, as mine is.

It is very saddening to me that we, the people of the former greatest country on the planet, seem to have lost the ability to get the government to do what they are supposed to do-govern the United States of America-not the world. We have problems of our own in this country that need attention. That list should be long enough to keep the governing body of this country busy-but apparently it is not. We need to take care of the problems here FIRST, not the problems of the entire planet. I hope one day in the not-too-distant future that we will once again have a say in what goes on around this nation. Sometimes it seems that the very people that we elect to run this country lose track of the very things that "they" say will get their attention. And these things always get put on the back burner. Lets get together and may it clear that we will not sit idly by and let the events that have led to the condition that this country is in be tolerated any longer. As a former United States Marine, it is imperative that we get our government to listen to us for a change, as I once did while I served this great country. It is not too late to regain our title as the greatest country on the planet. Please bring our servicemen and women home.

As long as war profiteering is allowed to go on, the longer the war will last. The hawks are perfectly happy with the war the way it is, and as long as taxpayers are funding it, they will do whatever it takes to prolong it. These people are much more powerful than the president, and I believe that he knows it now. To pull out of Afghanistan would cost him the next election, and quite possibly his life. It would take an act of congress - initiated by the congress - to stop the war. And our congress does not have the balls to do that. I don't have any hope that we will pull out of Afghanistan, and I am ashamed that our country has fought so many wars of aggression for financial gain.

What the former Soviet Union did in Afghanistan; today we, the US do the same exact thing in Afghanistan even harsher. We went under the name of liberators, but we are the real invaders and we put the entire Afghan nation in prison. How long we will bomb them, kill them, massacre them, and fill the prisons from Afghans? It is time to change our stinky and inhumane policy toward Afghanistan or be brave and honest and make it clear to them. “We will decentralize the government, will install our puppets in the government and will have puppet governors all over Afghanistan and will take all the rich natural resources out and then we will leave you Afghans with the empty shell.” Struggle and starve, but don’t forget we librated you Afghans from the Taliban that we created them for you!!!

A rag tag militia defending their homes and farms and way of life; they defeat a larger organized, well equipped military from across the ocean.
Could be 1776 or 1973 or 2009
fatima74
stop calling our brave people "rag tag militia", stop being so condescending and considering yourselves superior to other cultures!!
coolmind
What I meant... in 1776 USA had a rag tag militia that defeated the British army. The Afghanistan rag tag militias defeated the Russian army. Now the rag tag militias of Afghanistan are defeating the expensive USA war machine. How is that not true?
fatima74
the afghan people are not as you say "rag tag militias", we consist of many tribes and ethnic groups, we come from deep historical roots and civilizations beyond what most of you hear care to learn about!

I agree.. and I meant no disrespect .. I only meant that USA military has high tech gadgets, planes, etc... and the USA is being defeated by less equipped soldiers .. soldiers who must be brave, fearless, and devoted. I respect your country and people. I call for USA to leave Afghanistan now. Peace to you and yours.

I do know you are husbands, sons, fathers, mothers, wives, daughters and love each other and just want to live your life peacefully and being allowed to worship and believe as you desire.I do know that you have a strong faith and I have great respect for that.War has through history been over All of us trying to put our beliefs off on others instead of explaining them and expecting the same respect in return I would give them in listening to my beliefs. Then we can walk away ALLOWING INSTEAD OF CONTROLLING OR JUDGING. Education, education, education. Our people need to be educated so we no longer support this kind of effort. The Afghani people need education so that they won't fall under the trance of the Taliban. Think "3 Cups of Tea" like Greg Mortenson - build schools, rebuild infrastructure. Provide healing, not cause for hating.
Jeannie Jackson
I wonder how many people thought Obama was going to be different than George Bush - it's hard to believe he's just as stupid. My son just got back and thinks we should not be sending more troops. Obama has stated that the troops knew what they were getting into--and as thousands, my son joined to get a free education. They need more truth in advertising--show the young man that was operated on when his leg was blown off, only to die on the operating table on the recruitment stations walls--any college that kills 2 people a day would be shut down--so should the part of the military that aggressively kills and destroys other people.

Similar practices in Vietnam proved to be an utter failure and morally bankrupt the U.S.. I should know, I was there. If Vietnam has any positive legacy then let it be that we learned from our mistakes from that war and we will never repeat them. Give Afghanistan back to their people.

I cannot believe President Obama is thinking of sending more troops. I don't see how any explanation can justify what is going on in Afghanistan. My heart bleeds for the Afghans and for the soldiers who not only come home in body bags, but come home suffering from post traumatic syndrome. Where is the logic in all this?

At the end of all the "talks & thining it over" the U.S. will just send more troops to be bloodied and killed! Let's face it, "collateral damage" means Afganistani's blown to bloody bits!! I'm tired of euphaisms. I'm tired of fake reasons to stay there. I'm tired of rich, corrupted U.S. politicians deciding what will happen to the troops and the Afganistanis. I sign every petition with this: "President Obama, would you have trouble deciding whether to withdraw from Afganistan if YOUR CHILDREN were to go into the front lines?"

The US should NOT send any addl troops. I experienced WWII and understand the horror, the hell of war. No real winners on either side. I can understand that you cannot make friends with bombs, the distruction of what little these people have, lack of total respect and outsourced
prisons where torture is hidden from us, the US taxpayer.
It is an outrage that the Bush war must continue to become Obamas war. If the American Taxpayer had to pay an addl tax to fund the war, I believe things would quickly take a different turn. Where is our moral compas in all this. i don not believe that our country will be less safe if we get out, to the contrary. By being the occupiers, we created more and more resentment. We most likely have become the enemy replacing the Taliban. America used to be respected and admired. I said used to be. I love my country but are saddened by what I am witnessing. Senseless. HKW

I'm ashamed that a, so called, "democracy" can behave just like the worst dictatorship the world has seen. There is no crime that we haven't committed that won't rival the likes of Stalin, Pinochet, et al.
The Red Cross has stated, from the beginning, that 95% of all prisoners are innocent and keeping them in jail, torturing and killing them in the name of security is like Mother Teresa coming out of an orgy stating that she is doing it for the good of the church. It's inconceivable and criminal. Since many politicians state that they do this, they do that for America, well, my family and I are also part of America and even if they were guilty, Idon't want anybody being tortured, killed, kidnapp on my account If I can't live with honor, I can't live period and torturing, killing is not living with honor.

These war are being waged by the controlling elite and have nothing to do with out safety or security. They have used propaganda to sell their wars to the American people and continue to wage a propaganda war to continue them. Obama should announce an immediate withdraw and start an investigation of the lead up to these wars by the Bush administration. Obama's time clock for credibility is running out. If he does in fact escalate this unjust invasion and continues to put fourth the lies and distortions as justification then we will know that he is not who he said he was and our fight against him should begin then and there.

It´s a disgrace, from the beginning to the end! The Soviet invasion in 1979, the US sponsorship of Osama bin Laden and his mujahedeen to fight communist Moscow via Afghanistan, then, after the Soviet retreat leaving a ruined Afghanistan to itself and a civil war between brutal clan leaders, before supporting Pakistan´s sponsing of the utterly fundamentalistic Taliban entering the impoverished country to reek further havoc up until 9/11 2001, coming back with the pretext of bringing Osama to ´justice´and ´liberate´ the country, using NATO´s young soldiers, who don´t have a clue about the history, the traditons and/or the various languages in Afghanistan as ´expendable items´ to kill guilty and innocent people at more or less random.
As a Norwegian, I´m extremely ambivalent about the Nobel Peace Prize to Barack Obama, first of all because I´m against giving prices to state leaders who´s job it is to work for peace, but also because I fear that he´ll not withstand the pressure from the military rightwings in the US and send even more young, clueless boys to the hell of war.
My country, a member of NATO, also has troops in Afghanistan, albeit only a few. But still, I feel guilty about that too and say: NOT IN MY NAME, and BREAD, NOT BOMBS!

OH FOR CHRIST'S SAKE! George had no reason to do any of this except that Hussein started a dangerous economic precedent and for the US to pay for 1.2 billion barrels of oil, in the so called, "oil for food" program. only, the US was forced to pay in EUROS. Well, they had to scrape up jewels, silver, not much gold because the US doesn't have much left. Now countries worldwide are dumping dollars as reserve currency, and even the US is contemplating the EURO as it's reserve currency. Look at the runaway inflation!! what does that tell you? A jobless recovery from recession? IMPOSSIBLE!! well, unless you count offshore US corporations and how much tax they don't pay, and countries they exploit, and laws they don't follow. Why even today US third quarter earnings were downplayed to a more real number. Finally, there is the "TRANSAFGHAN" PIPE LINE. Oil in the Caucasus has to be transported somehow to the see for worldwide disbursement. This godawful crime has nothing to do with "freedoms, liberty, or any other benevolence towards arabs. They had nothing to do with 911 either. Look around! THIS DISEASE INFESTED COUNTRY IS AMERICA!!!

I am an American Citizen, born and raised, but feel that my own Government has turned into a very evil entity itself. To treat any human being without being proven guilty of a crime is in itself "DEMONIC". Futher more! I say that any American man or woman who has a hand in fighting and killing another in a land not their own is no better than a hired hit man. Living off the taxes of the American People, to kill, murder or torture innocent people is not being a hero, but a soul destined to the pits of hell. What you do to others, you have done to yourself and you will be judged for it. I hope President BARACK OBAMA uses his Love for God and everything he has learned as a Christian, to act like one, and ask God for the wisdom and right answers in hopes of stopping any and all wars and bring our troops back home. It's time we owned up as good peace keeping Americans, and not lower ourselves into ignorant death squads used as pawns by the Social Elite (Made up from Corporate Money Mongers and Crooked Politicians who have invested in these wars) who line their pockets by the sell of weapons, supplies and equipment used to support these wars.
Anyone drops bombs on my family or children, you bet I'll fight to protect, against anyone responsible! So how are the Iraqis, Pakistanis and Afghanistan's any different than ourselves? They Are Not! If anything, they are God Fearing People, just like me!
The Drug Cartels in Mexico is our present enemy! Secure our borders! The Drugs are a silent war killer, killing the minds of many young and old with Crystal Meth, Heroine and Cocaine! THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!

I was sent a link to this video by a friend. Was curious and open to differant points of view, so I watched it and then went down to the comments.
My Grandfathers both faught in WW2 - One at D-day, the other shot down twice as a paratrooper and received 2 purple hearts (not on American soil, but to defeat Hitler - hard to her he is in the pits of hell), My father served in Vietnam.
My son came home last year, and was buried in Arlington (in the pits of hell with his grandfather). My son-in-law and Father of my 1 year old grandson, is currently serving in Afghanistan. We are a family with a tradition of patriotism and duty and proud of it. We have faught for your freedom to spew this vile. My son would want me to be tolerant and forgive your cruel hateful words. I'm not talking about WWII (figured it was obvious), however, Vietnam was a waste of Life, just as is our presence in the Middle East. It's a no brainer!
This war is such a tragic waste of human life and resources. With the same amount of effort directed in a more positive way, we could have raised the standard of living in Afghanistan (or Iraq) to a level where the people would love us, not hate us as they do now.
spkavyo
We are creating more harm, radicalizing more Afghans, becoming the enemy instead of the Taliban. Destroying peoples homes, killing brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers only turns the people against us. Every day we stay in Afghanistan we create more people who wish to drive us out. Bagram prison is the new Guantanamo Bay in the eyes of the world. It is time to rethink our mission and withdraw our troops. Bring the Taliban to the table to talk peace. Tell them is they do not harbor our enemies we will leave them alone.

America no longer exists except as a theory. Actions such as these taken against sovereign Afghani people in the name of the U.S. are those of an unauthorized occupying invader police force and do not represent the will of the U.S. citizenry. It is no longer possible to have a rational discussion about the politics in the U.S. related to these issues because no one in power (including Obama) is truly responsive to us. Game over. So now what? How do we reinvent ourselves? How do we extricate from this mess? And, just to be clear, the mess to which I am referring has been manifesting here in the U.S., too ... in various disturbing, insidious forms and for a very long time. We are as well touched by the glove of fascism. We are in this mess together.

These men are being generously gracious to be interviewed by anyone after what has happened to them. How right they are in regard to peace! We need to get out of Afghanistan and defend our own borders. Who is minding our store?

I have become ashamed of American government when it chooses to represent me as an aggressor rather than a peace seeker and peace maker. I believe that diplomacy can begin with the promise of troop withdrawal, restoration of humanitarian aide, fostering education for all who will learn, and economic development in setting of self government without blatant corruption. Leading by good example is exemplary. Leading by bad example is un American. Leading by worst example is no longer acceptable. There are fewer risks to our national security and well being if we negotiate towards peace, which means tactical withdrawal from Afganistan. Enrollment of U N, European community and non threatening engagement should replace violence and occupation by force. These are my basic beliefs and principals. Thank you. RHD, Jr. M. D.

What happened to compassion and mutual respect. Wars and plunder are not justifyable. How can we sleep knowing that our country men are killing people, destroying their lives and detaining them unjustly.

I am very much against us being in Afghanistan. But films like this one does not serve to get us out but gives propaganda material to those jihadists our troops are trying to fight over there. Sorry I can't support this kind of "documentary" that just serves to prolong the war on terror, not helps to shorten it.
kathiechandler
you can't support truth, knowledge, awareness of something we know nothing of and only stand in judgement ?? Isn't that part of what got us here. Do you really know what a jihadists is? Really? Are ALL Christian's,Jews, catholic etc wrong, bad ? Please don't believe that those that are the terrorist represent Muslims. I have friends that are of the Muslim faith and they are some of the kindess most humble people that would do anything for you. Please judgement gets us no where.

Please don't join them in there judgement. Where will this get you? Maybe raising your blood pressure--not worth it. Have pity on those who have judgement for they know not what they do. Education is truly the answer for ALL of us. you about us , us about you. When I was in Turkey I went afraid for my safety. Do to others and their fears. I have never been treated kinder. I learned the customs and dressed and acted accordingly out of respect, and loved the people so much.

I think it's time to proof the facts. More troops can be more damage. President Obama, hear the voices of those who experienced the situation, not only in generals ranks.
Builders but bombers, talkers not taktics, networks of humanity instead of private interest is asked for...
Good film but it leaves me wondering about the translator a bit and wonderng why you did not choose to include any information that wold back up what they were saying. In the print it referred to the Americans carrying or pointing AK-47's at them. US forces don't use that weapon do they? Maybe a mistranslation but I would expect you to catch it. When they were saying no other forces or nations would treat them as the Americans have, it made me wonder about their knowledge and experience with the Russians, the Taliban, or the Northern Alliance - all of whom were reported to have been much more brutal. And I wondered why they might not think that suicide bombing that kills innocents is not bad or worse than what they described.
I am very much against the US being in Afghanistan and want our troops out but ths film, I find unconvincing and expected better.
bigbass
I agree.US Troops do not use AK-47's,that is a weapon of our enemy, like terrorists. But,I do agree we need to get out of Afghanistan and use that cost at home. This film is unconvencing.

Please don't send more troops. This problem cannot be solved with more violence. We need mediation with incentives and sanctions as tools instead of bombs that spread the fire. We need to show the world that we care by getting out now. The costs are too high and the goal gets harder to achieve with every new troop in their country.
jb4justice
It is my opinion that we ought to let Afghanistan and Iraq figure out its own internal problems. Certainly, we are only adding to the confusion and causing widespread death and destruction in a war we simply cannot afford. There is no winning these kinds of wars, and imprisoning people without due process is anti-American and will serve to further damage our image in the worlds mind, if we do not practive what we preach. Freedom and democracy mean nothing if our deeds do not match our words.
