Why end the war? It has been an economic boom for some in country locals. It has been an economic boom for the war industry at home. Sure some people have died, but the war industry eats omelets, and to make an omelet you have to ...

Its too bad that the king no longer leads the troops into battle. In fact we have not only "evolved" out of that practice we have eliminated the draft where the kids of rich parents had to get shot too. We have "evolved" into an "all volunteer army" where if you are poor and like to eat and maybe want an education the military was a good opportunity.

Unfortunately we succumbed to the natural consequences of our leaders' "War on..." philosophy. You remember war on poverty, drugs, etc. With the "War on..." exemplifying a politicians most serious efforts at solving a problem its no wonder diplomacy went from need to war without talk or considering other options, especially when you have an all volunteer military.

Of course "All Voluntary" means that economic conditions, high education costs, low wages, the decline of the real wage and other factors are not considered when making a voluntary decision.

Want to stop war. Re-institute the draft. Rich folks don't like body bags. Of course neither do poor folks, but there are more kinds of collateral damage than killing the other guys civilians.

You can't change the hearts and minds of people with a gun or bomb, not even a remote controlled bomb.

All you can do is increase the hatred. Humanitarian aid will change minds. Watch Haiti.
